Cheyenne Minick

Go Feed the Lion
“Go Feed the Lion” was the order given to Cheyenne as a young volunteer at the zoo in Medora, North Dakota. Lisa, the mountain lion, became a symbol that great opportunities often arise from tough challenges. Cheyenne’s journey began in these rugged Badlands, where his connection to the land instilled in him the virtues of hard work, honesty, and a deep love for his country. These formative experiences echoed those of Theodore Roosevelt, who also lived, ranched, and cultivated a life of patriotism in the Badlands, nurturing values and a strong sense of purpose.
Raised by the West
Cheyenne’s childhood later took him to Texas, where he spent his formative years among rodeo livestock and the demanding lifestyle of life on the road. The grit required for hard work and courage was soon paired with problem-solving skills and a growing sense of self-reliance. His upbringing in the beautiful yet challenging environment of the Badlands, together with a clear understanding of the laws of the animal kingdom, shaped his commitment to equity and justice in his future courtroom decisions. It was within these enduring western values-resonant throughout generations across America-that Cheyenne found his passion and guiding light.
Forged in the Law

Cheyenne’s academic foundation was laid at Texas A & M, and his legal perspectives were shaped at the Texas Wesleyan School of Law. He began his law career in Fort Worth’s dynamic legal environment, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of the justice system. Over the course of two decades, Cheyenne’s expertise and dedication led him to solve complex problems in criminal law, culminating in his tenure as a Criminal District Magistrate.

A New Chapter in Killeen

In 2018, responding to a friend’s invitation, Cheyenne moved to Killeen to join Lane Heginbothan at Harris Law Firm, where he practiced both Family and Criminal Law. In 2024, he joined the Barnhill Law Firm to lead the Criminal Law section as a seasoned legal expert. His exposure to diverse cultures and social settings further enhanced his compassionate leadership and ability to communicate effectively with all members of society, from jail cells to corporate offices and even the Governor’s office.

A Family Built on Love

Cheyenne’s life was enriched by meeting Louanna Barbosa, the love of his life, who shares his thoughtful and service-oriented goals. Grounded in mutual spiritual values, true loyalty, and devotion, they joined Louanna’s large, loving family. Together, they celebrate with their children: Jackson, Cheyenne’s Aggie engineer son, and daughters Piper and Tawnie, both bright, beautiful, and talented.

Committed to Community

Cheyenne is actively involved as an Associate member of the Central Texas Republican Women and Salado Area Republican Women.
